Woman charged with assaulting officer in Woodbridge

On the morning of May 27, 19-year old Jada Barnes was arrested by Prince William police in relation to an issue she was having with an acquaintance.

The original incident included Barnes allegedly making threats against the acquaintance, by text message and by phone, according to Prince William police.

Prince William police stated that during the arrest, Barnes asked to use the phone, and was allowed to make a call.

When the necessary part of the call was complete, and officers asked Barnes to hang up the phone and return to her seat to continue the booking process, but she refused to cooperate said Prince William police.

During the incident, when an officer was trying to handcuff Barnes, she spat at the officer and struck him in the arms, stated Prince William police.

Barnes is currently being charged with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, assault and battery, obstruction of justice, threats in writing, phone threats and harassment by computer.
