Grocery chain Wegmans will open a new location in Alexandria on June 14. The new store will bring five hundred jobs to the area.

Wegmans Food Markets is now hiring and training for part-time positions at its new location in Alexandria, which is scheduled to open Sunday June 14 at 7:00 a.m. The company’s seventh store in the state is part of Hilltop Village Center, a retail and office complex located at Telegraph Road and Beulah Street.
Three-hundred available part-time positions include everything from culinary professionals to customer service representatives. Recruitment and training for full-time positions began in October and is ongoing. In total, the store will employ 550 people, 500 of whom will be new to the company and hired locally.
“Though the opening is months away, we’re training our team now so that they receive some of the most in-depth culinary, customer service, and product education in the industry,” said Store Manager Mike Dempsey. “Come June 14, we’ll open the doors eager to offer incredible customer service to all of Alexandria.”

Rochester, NY-based Wegmans Food Markets is known for incredible customer service and restaurant-quality prepared foods. The 126,000 square-foot Alexandria store will be the first in the state to feature a full-service restaurant called The Pub by Wegmans. The company plans to open additional Virginia stores in the future including Chantilly, Charlottesville, and two locations in the Greater Richmond area.
