William A. ‘Tony’ Thrall

William A. “Tony” Thrall, 72, of Dumfries, VA passed away at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center on August 24, 2014.

Tony was born in Washington D.C. on September 10, 1941, to the late James and Mary Thrall. He grew up in Arlington, VA and spent many days with family in the Northern Neck where he grew to know and love the water and boating in particular.

As a student at Washington-Lee High School he met Eileen Fowler Thrall, Who would become his lifelong companion and wife of 51 years. After high school, Tony entered the apprenticeship of Steamfitter’s Local 602, where he became a 50-year Life Member and held Masters HVAC, plumbing, and gas licenses.

Tony served his community on the Prince William County Wetlands Board for over 30 years, several as Chairman. He lived on Quantico Creek outside Dumfries for 44 years where he owned boats and provided a warm and loving home.

Tony was a caring husband and father, active in his children’s lives attending music, sports, schools, and scouting events. In his later years Tony could often be found with his wife towing their travel trailer to locations close and far, boating, or simply having dinner with close friends. Including his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and John Thrall.

Tony is survived by his loving wife, Eileen Thrall; one daughter, Jennifer D. Thrall; two sons, James E. Thrall and John J. Thrall; his sisters, Joyce Wood, Teresa Thrall, and Carolyn Thrall; three brothers, Donald Thrall, Clyde Thrall, and Christopher Thrall. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Brittannie Thrall, Krysten Wood, Camille Thrall, and Madeline Thrall; and great-grandson Elijah Anthony Thrall.

Family and friends will be received at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd, Dale City VA 22193 on Friday, August 29, 2014 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 30, at 10:30am at Dumfries United Methodist Church, 3890 Cameron Street, Dumfries, VA 22026. Interment will take place in Columbia Gardens Cemetery, 3411 Arlington Blvd., Arlington VA 22201.
