There was never a storm warning issued on Wednesday night, but thunder rolled in the skies over top of our region.
A large electrical storm gathered in the skies over Stafford County just as the sun was setting about 8 p.m. The lightning flashes continued for the next two hours.
Reports of lightning also came in from places like Dale City, pouring rain in Dumfries, and even more reports of similar conditions in Fairfax County.
The National Weather Service forecast showed thunderstorms in the outlook today, and there’s a chance of more of them on Thursday. After unseasonably cool weather last week, this week is feeling more like August with temperatures in the high 80s.
Expect a sunny weekend with temperatures in the low 80s on Saturday and Sunday.
