DALE CITY, Va. — A police detective was hit by a car after witnessing a drug deal in Dale City, police said.
It happened at a 7-Eleven store at 7001 Dale Boulevard,near Hoadly Road, on Friday. Detectives from Prince William police’s Street Crimes Unit witnesses a drug transaction in the parking lot pf o o f the store between the driver of a car and another person. When the detective approached the car, the driver put the car into reverse and backed it up, then stopped, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok.
The driver then put the car into drive and struck the detective, forcing him into the hood and windshield of the car, throwing him to the ground, said Perok. The driver then made a right turn onto Dale Boulevard and fled the scene.
Police were able to identify a suspect and located him that day at his house, and were able to arrest him without a fight, said Perok. Officers searched the suspect’s house and found crack cocaine, power cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a handgun, and cash, said Perok.
The detective was taken to a local hospital and treated for injuries that did not appear to be life threatening.
Kerry Cherone Brown, 34, of 12314 Nickelson Drive in Dale City, is charged with malicious injury to a police officer, felony hit & run, felony eluding, distribution of a schedule I or II narcotic, possession with intent to distribute a schedule I or II narcotic, possession of a schedule I or II narcotic, and possession of a firearm with narcotics, said Perok.
He is scheduled to appear in court August 16 and was held without bond.
