NOKESVILLE, Va. — Two horses are dead in what police are calling a suspicious incident that took place Friday morning in Nokesville.
A 10-year-old thoroughbred mare was found dead in a field. Another, a quarter horse gelding palomino, was found nearby severely injured and had to be put down, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok.
Police did not release an address for where the animals were found out of security concerns, and there is no information provided by police as to exactly how the first horse was killed and the second badly injured.
Anyone with information on this case is encouraged to call Prince William County Crime Solvers.
Last summer, three horses at Frying Pan Park in Fairfax County were slashed several times. A teenager was later arrested in connection to those incidents.
