MANASSAS, Va. — Helicopters will be buzzing once again in the Manassas area on Monday.
This time, pilots will be flying the choppers with crews from Dominion Virginia Power onboard. They’ll be checking power lines, and replacing insulators on those transmission lines in the area, said Dominion Virginia Power spokeswoman Le-Ha Anderson.
The work comes about a week after other helicopters were spotted hovering near Manassas. Calls to the city’s 911 center prompted officials to release information about those helicopters, which were measuring natural levels of radiation in the area.
Dominion Virginia Power has provided Potomac Local News with a video for more information on how the utility uses helicopters to perform regular maintenance work.
