Clinic Offers Free Shots in Late Flu Season

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — With the latest start to the flu season in two decades, the Greater Prince William Community Health Center just made getting your flu shot easier and more affordable than ever.

The Health Center is offering two flu shots for just $19 during all open hours. When one adult purchases a flu shot for $19, a related family member age 18 or under can get a free flu shot.

Get Your Flu Shots at Ridgewood Center on Prince William Parkway. The Health Center is located at 4379 Ridgewood Center Drive, Suite 102, near the intersection of the Prince William Parkway and Old Bridge Road. No appointment is necessary to get your flu shot. Walk-ins are welcome between 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and until 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Most private insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid recipients are welcomed.

Is It Still Flu Season?

According to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, this year’s flu season did not officially begin until the first week of February. Given this unusually late start to the flu season, the CDC is reminding people they can still gain protection by getting a flu shot, which is recommended for everyone 6 months and older.

An Ounce of Prevention

“No one wants to deal with the misery of the flu, and one of the most important steps you can take is to get a flu shot,” said Dr. Rashid Mohiuddin, the Health Center’s Medical Director. “Flu shots are particularly important for young children, pregnant women, people with chronic health conditions like asthma and diabetes, and people over age 65.”

The Health Center provides integrated and coordinated primary, prenatal, dental and behavioral health care for the entire family under one roof. To make an appointment, please call our Appointment Line at 703-680-7950 or visit us at gpwhealthcenter.org.
