Triangle, Va. – A fire ripped through a Triangle home Tuesday night displacing two people.
Fire crews from the Dumfries-Triangle Volunteer Fire Department and Quantico Marine Corps Base at 10:45 p.m. were called to a home in the 18000 block of Chestnut Drive. Flames were seen shooting from the roof of the home as crews arrived, said fire officials.
Two occupants made it out of the home safely and told witnesses they were doing laundry when flames broke out, and that they could smell something burning outside their home for several minutes before calling 911, said officials.
The fire appeared to have started in the attic, and the Prince William County Fire Marshal’s office conducted an investigation into the official cause of the fire. Details on the investigation have yet to be released.
The Red Cross was not needed to assist the victims. Fire crews cleared this scene at 2 a.m. Wednesday.
