Quantico, Va. — The Command Post Pub in Quantico is about to get new life Monday.

The popular Tiziano’s Italian Restaurant in Dumfries will open a second location at the old Q Town staple on Potomac Avenue and will be called Tiziano’s at the Command Post Pub. Owner Robert Aquino, 58, says he’s excited to open a new business in a place that for more than 30 years had served Marines and locals alike.

“I’ve had 30 years in the restaurant business with ups and downs, but we know how to make this new restaurant a success. I have two chefs, two bartenders, six servers and a place with three floors – so there is a lot of opportunity here,” said Aquino.

Tiziano’s on Va. 234, open for 10 years now, is best known for its Italian and American food, serving chicken, veal and seafood. Aquino will bring many of the same dishes, along with some new ones, to the Command Post, and will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner on weekdays, lunch and dinner on Saturdays and brunch on Sundays, he said.

The Command Post Pub closed late last year after its owner, Al Glasser, was unable to renew his mortgage on the property. He told InsideNova.com he sunk all of his money into expanding the restaurant, and that Prince William County fire officials required him to make safety upgrades in order to bring the building up to code.

While he made the improvements using all financial means available to him, it also led to him not being able to renew his mortgage, he told the website.

Since opening Tiziano’s in Dumfries, Aquino also opened a second Tiziano’s on U.S. 1 in Spotsylvania County. It, however, was never received as well as the original, he said, and it later closed.

The original Tiziano’s will also get some new upgrades, including new windows that will allow diners to peer outside while they eat.

“This is a great location [on Va. 234] but we think adding some windows and brightening up the place will make even more people want to come in,” said Aquino.
