It was all good cheer: excitement and poker chips at the first annual “Chips 4 Charity Fundraiser” held Friday night at the Harbour View events center in Woodbridge by the Lake Ridge and Woodbridge Rotary clubs, and the Greater Prince William County Health Center.
The fundraiser, held Friday night in Woodbridge, was a culmination of a year’s worth of work, determination and collaboration with several sponsors and organizations in Prince William County.
The event was held raise funds to benefit 13 non-profit agencies in Prince William, and will help to maintain the services that the Greater Prince William County Health Center provides to many county residents.
“I’m pleased to be involved with a team of people that are so committed to our community. We’re the door – we are the way in, we are the access point,” said Chairman of the Board for the Greater Prince William County Health Center Salli Eissler.
This effort is crucial, especially now, with the national economy in a downturn and with many cutbacks and lay-offs leaving several residents in Prince William County without a way of receiving proper and affordable medical care, organizers said.
It was also a fun night out for residents who donated to the fundraiser. And much like casino in Las Vegas, the venue hosted professional dealers at casino tables with Craps, Blackjack, and even derby horse racing.
A silent auction and raffle were held to allow guests to purchase items that would benefit the charities, as well as winning many great and current prizes. Local sponsors and organizations also contributed towards the prizes and items for this part of the charity event.
The Greater Prince William County Health Center offers county residents access to primary care, physicians, behavioral health professionals, dental services, as well as an extensive obstetrician clinic that helps so many residents get the health care that they need to be healthy.
