Dumfries, Va. — The Dumfries Town Council voted in a closed session at their Oct. 11 meeting to approve Robert Forker as the town’s police chief. Forker had been serving in an interim capacity since former police chief Dan Taber took on the responsibilities of town manager in August.

Taber, a former Prince William County police major, took the Dumfries police chief position in September 2010 after spending 37 years on the county’s force.
