U.S. 1 in Triangle has reopened to traffic after power lines fell across the intersection of the highway and Joplin Road about 4 p.m.
Traffic was snarled as crews worked to repair the downed lines.

Triangle, Va. –– Traffic is snarled at Jefferson Davis Highway (U.S. 1) and Joplin Road in Triangle.
Wires were reported to be down across the roadway about 4 p.m. Thursday, and the backups reportedly extend four miles from intersection all the way north to Fox Lair Drive in Woodbridge.
Police were called to direct traffic in the area, according to initial reports.
Initial reports indicate traffic was being diverted from U.S. 1 to Joplin Road to Interstate 95 to get around the downed lines.
