High winds and winter temperatures didn’t stop Morris Hinton from donning a Superman costume.
He stood shouting at passersby on Saturday as part of a gimmick for a national tax preparation service.
Hinton says he enjoys dressing up, has been recognized by others during his two years as a tax preparation-dresser-upper-spokesman and he hopes the recognition will help him get into college.
“I do it because it can help me get a college reference, just in case a college needs a mascot,” said Hinton, 29, who lives in Mt. Vernon.
Drivers in the Potomac Communities often see folks dressed up in costumes like the Statue of Liberty and other eye-catching outfits promoting tax preparation services, and Hinton is no different.
He stood Saturday outside the Walmart at U.S. 1 and Sherwood Hall Lane in Mt. Vernon.
And if you think the Superman costume is the only one he’s got, think again.
“I’ve been doing this for like two years, I dress up like all different people: Iron Man, Batman, I’ve done all kinds,” said Hinton.
He kept warm Saturday by wearing extra layers of clothes underneath his costume, with a pair of earphones to feed his musical need and continued to shout at motorists hoping to get their attention.
