Dale City, Va. –– Fire and rescue crews in Dale City were called to an apartment fire on Thursday.
While no one was injured, officials say sprinklers helped to douse the flames.
The fire broke out at 5:30 p.m. at 12800 Island House Loop in Ridgefield Village off Hoadly Road.
When rescue crews arrived, they found the fire was in the laundry room of the one of the apartments on the third floor.
The blaze had already been contained by the sprinkler system when rescue crews arrived, and fire fighters worked to douse the remaining portion of the fire, said Prince William Fire and Rescue Department spokeswoman Kim Hylander.
There was a working smoke detector inside the apartment which alerted residents to the blaze.
Two adults and two children were displaced and received assistance from the Red Cross, said Hylander.
The blaze, deemed accidental, caused $10,000 in damage, according to the fire marshal’s office.
