Questions linger after shots fired

Police determined the man who fled a car during a traffic stop Tuesday was armed with gun.

A manhunt ensued in the Montclair area just after Noon Tuesday after the man fled from the car, police said.

Two others who were inside the automobile did not flee, and were arrested.

It all started when police received a call from a neighbor who said they heard shots being fired in a wooded area near Marshall Court. The witness told police the alleged shooter jumped into a car and sped off.

Police stopped a car with the description the caller provided, and one man inside fled, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok.

During the manhunt, local and state police, along with U.S. Park Rangers from nearby Prince William Forest Park fanned out looking for the man, who was eventually found near Whitshire Place, in the Brittany neighborhood near Montclair.

No one was injured and police say they don’t know why shots were fired.

Lamar Antonio Maurice Johnson, 29, of Reston, is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felong and reckless handling of a firearm, said Perok.

Karma Momolu Korvah, 20, of Reston, is charged with reckless handing of a firearm, said Perok.

Jared Todd Davis, 20, of Herndon, is charged with reckless handing of a firearm, said Perok.

With the exception of Davis, who was held on $3,000 bond, each man was held without bond.

Dumfries, Va. –– A manhunt near Montclair on Tuesday afternoon ended in the arrest of three males, said police.

Officers were called to the area of Va. 234 (Dumfries Road) and Country Club Drive at 12:06 p.m. when someone told them they heard shots fired.

The caller gave a description of a car they said that contained the alleged gunman, and as police swooped in they saw the car, stopped it, were able to arrest two men, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok. Another fled on foot.

State and local police began looking for the male who police say eluded them, and was later found in a subdivision off Va. 234 near Prince William Forest Park, said Perok.

Though police thought the he could have been armed, he was not at the time he was arrested.

All three males were held for questioning, no victim has been identified in this case, and an investigation continues.
