No single mother should have to raise a child without child support.
Child Support – the name alone hints at its purpose – when a man helps create a life he should help provide for that life.
Yes, there are a thousand scenarios as to why two people who were together one day and are not the next.
But raising a child is very expensive, as they can act so entitled always wanting food and shelter!
And no matter how often I tell my 13-year-old son to stop his feet from growing they still seem to grow daily, and then you guessed it – he’s asking for more shoes. It’s audacity at its best.
As much as I want to spend money on the fun stuff, we are forced to spend on necessitates.
A child doesn’t want to hear that the rent or mortgage needs to be paid before we buy a Guitar Hero video game.
When dealing with my teen, he doesn’t want to hear that he cannot get the crazy-looking pair of jeans by some new trendy Hobo brand, and instead has to get brand that’s on sale.
I am thankful for the job I have, and for the health insurance it provides, especially now that my son is “driving” his skateboard without a license.
I am not the only single mother hoping on rainbows that one day financial assistance magically appears.
And what that tells me is that I not the only single mother surviving.
If you are a single mother, hold your head up high and pat yourself on the back.
And if nobody has told you lately, I will say: I am proud of you!
Celebrate your accomplishments and know you have everything you need to reach tomorrow.
