Bricks in the ‘Burg tour
Come and take a walking tour of Downtown Fredericksburg on Saturday, where you’ll be introduced to centuries of history and architecture which have shaped the town’s history for centuries.

Tours begin at 10 a.m. in Market Square.

There is a fee charged for this, the Bricks and Boards in the ‘Burg Walking Tour.

Wildlife refuge opening to the public

For the first time in 40 years, the Featherstone National Wildlife Refuge Area will be opened to the public.

You’re invited to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony and take a tour of the refuge in Woodbridge from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

The tour will be given by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, which will also update attendees on the progress of fully opening the area to the public.

The area currently has no trails, but event organizers say they will not be needed to conduct the tour.

The refuge has 325 acres of bottomland forests and freshwater tidal marshes along the Potomac River. It has long been known as a great place to watch birds.

Attendees are asked to meet at the Virginia Railway Express Rippon station parking lot at 8 a.m. for the tour. The Prince William Conversation Alliance asks that those attending please RSVP by calling 703-499-4954 or emailing the organization at [email protected].

Recycle your old electronics

Are you looking to do something good for the environment this weekend? From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, you can bring your old electronics, such as TVs, computers, and peripherals speakers, printers and scanners, to be recycled at the I-95 Landfill just off Furnace Road in Lorton.

Unbroken florescent tubes and light bulbs can also be recycled in addition to electronics.
