E-ZPass lanes between Garrisonville, Courthouse roads will be closed nightly

“During the single lane closure between 8 p.m. and 12 a.m., the 95 Express Lanes will be traveling southbound. The Lanes are regularly closed between 12 a.m. and 2 a.m. on weeknights for southbound to northbound reversal. When the reversal is complete, the entry points near Courthouse Road and near Garrisonville Road will remain closed until 4 a.m. The southern most entry point into the 95 Express Lanes during this time will be near Dumfries Road.”

“Travelers are reminded to avoid distractions, reduce speeds, and stay alert for signage directing traffic.”

Stafford motorcyclist killed on I-95 at Dale City

Virginia State Police: “Virginia State Police is investigating a fatal crash in Prince William County. The crash occurred June 7, 2023, shortly after 1 p.m. on Interstate 95 in the access lanes, near Exit 156 for Dale City.”

“A 2007 Honda CBR1000 RR motorcycle was traveling north on I-95 at a high rate of speed when it cut through the gore area of the exit ramp and struck an impact attenuator. The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike. The motorcyclist and debris from the motorcycle struck the rear of a northbound 2015 Hyundai SUV that was traveling in the right exit lane.”

OmniRide offering free rides Friday, June 9, 2023; Poor air quality forecasted

OmniRide: “OmniRide will offer fare-free rides this Friday, June 9. Fare-free travel is being made available to passengers to reduce the number of single-occupancy cars on area roadways that contribute to pollution, which is especially important during this period of poor and smoky air quality from the Canadian wildfires.”

National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington: “Here is the latest Air Quality Forecast for today from http://AirNow.gov. Currently, much of the area has code Orange or Red air quality, and areas around the DC metro are purple or Very Unhealthy. For the most up to date information see http://airnow.gov.”

Prince William sups fund multiple transportation projects

Prince William County Government: “During their meeting on Tuesday, June 6, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors voted to budget and appropriate funding for several transportation projects across Prince William County.”

“University Boulevard Extension: The Board budgeted and allocated $40.7 million in state, regional and local funding to extend University Boulevard between Devlin and Wellington roads.”

700-space commuter lot opens in Spotsylvania

VDOT Fredericksburg: “A new Park & Ride commuter lot in Spotsylvania County opened today at the intersection of Route 1 and Commonwealth Drive, providing nearly 700 parking spaces for ride sharing within two miles of Interstate 95.”

“With the completion of this $16.5 million project, there are now a total of 4,732 commuter parking spaces available in Spotsylvania across five Park & Ride commuter lot locations.”

“To make traveling through the I-95 corridor in Stafford County easier and faster, the Fredericksburg Extension (Fred Ex) will pick up where the 95 Express Lanes currently end and will extend 10 miles south near Fredericksburg, VA. The lengthened lanes will connect with the 395 Express Lanes to create a connected corridor spanning nearly 50 miles from the Fredericksburg area to the D.C. line.”

Fredericksburg free ride program draws more bus passengers

“The bus service, which runs 30 buses on 16 routes in Fredericksburg and the counties of Stafford and Spotsylvania, recorded 71,100 rider trips during the first quarter of 2023. In the first quarter of 2022, the bus service recorded a total of 39,103 rider trips. This first quarter also topped the 68,126 rider trips in the fourth quarter of 2022.”
