The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will honor OmniRide with the BASE Gold Standard Award at a ceremony taking place at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 25 at the OmniRide Transit Center .

The award is the top recognition TSA can give to a transit agency for demonstrating outstanding performance in enhancing their security programs. OmniRide is the first and only bus-only transit system in the National Capital Region to earn this recognition.


Commuters near Manassas and Manassas Park will see a new ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 East open on Friday, September 25. The new ramp is part of several improvements of roadway via the Transform 66 Outside The Beltway Project.

Drivers on Route 28 South will stay to the right to access I-66 East using the new ramp, located prior to the traffic signal and two left-turn lanes that drivers currently use. The new ramp is one of several major traffic pattern changes happening this year in the I-66 and Route 28 Interchange area as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.


About 50 people who had hoped to speak to the Prince William Board of County Supervisors were turned away.

The county’s top elected officials held their meeting in a small conference room on Tuesday, September 15. The room was outside of the eight-member board’s regular meeting chambers, and due to coronavirus restrictions, seating inside the conference room was limited to less than 20 people.


Two OmniRide contractors have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, the first of the company’s hundreds of tested contract employees. The cases were reported on August 31.

In light of the test results, OmniRide has taken appropriate actions such as contact tracing and deep cleaning to ensure the safety of its employees, customers, and the general public.


There will be several changes coming to William Street in Downtown Fredericksburg that will aim to improve travel for both commuters and pedestrians. William Street is already undergoing repaving and is one of many road improvement plans underway in the area.
