The public is invited to join the Virginia Department of Transportation for a virtual open house to learn about ongoing construction to improve Interstate 95 in the Fredericksburg area.
Project officials will share details on a new traffic pattern at Exit 133 (Route 17) in Stafford County that will begin Oct. 7, and a traffic shift on I-95 southbound scheduled for Oct. 13-14. The changes are part of the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing project.
Starting today through Friday, October 23, paving for the Route 1 widening project will take place between Marumsco Creek and Annapolis Way in Woodbridge. The paving will occur on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day as weather permits.
The paving will include the through lanes of northbound and southbound Route 1, as well as turn lanes. Paving on Occoquan Road, Route 123 (Gordon Boulevard) and Annapolis Way at their intersections with Route 1 will occur after the Route 1 mainline paving is completed.

I-95 Northbound
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will honor OmniRide with the BASE Gold Standard Award at a ceremony taking place at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 25 at the OmniRide Transit Center .
The award is the top recognition TSA can give to a transit agency for demonstrating outstanding performance in enhancing their security programs. OmniRide is the first and only bus-only transit system in the National Capital Region to earn this recognition.
Commuters near Manassas and Manassas Park will see a new ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 East open on Friday, September 25. The new ramp is part of several improvements of roadway via the Transform 66 Outside The Beltway Project.
Drivers on Route 28 South will stay to the right to access I-66 East using the new ramp, located prior to the traffic signal and two left-turn lanes that drivers currently use. The new ramp is one of several major traffic pattern changes happening this year in the I-66 and Route 28 Interchange area as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

I-95 Southbound
The speed limit is increasing from 55 mph to 60 mph on several sections of Route 3 and Route 301 in King George County.
New 60 mph speed limit signs are posted today on several sections of Route 301, and new signs will be installed on Route 3 on Monday, Sept. 21, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Manassas city residents will get some tax relief for their vehicles.
The City Council voted on Monday night to approve the allocation percentage for personal property tax relief in the City of Manassas for the 2020 tax year.

Two OmniRide contractors have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, the first of the company’s hundreds of tested contract employees. The cases were reported on August 31.
