WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Bus commuters in Prince William County will now have new seats on 13 new buses.

Providers of OmniRide and OmniLink, the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission said the new buses have been delivered to their headquarters in Woodbridge. They will not be used to increase service, but to replace older buses that are rapidly aging.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Do you hold a ticket for the Prancer Express? It’s leaving the station later than some might think.

Virginia Railway Express has corrected the departure time for the holiday express train – one of several Santa Trains the agency will run on Saturday Dec. 8. The train will leave the Woodbridge station at 10:30 a.m., not 9:30 a.m. as was originally posted online.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — The window to apply to be considered as the next Woodbridge representative on the Prince William County School Board is closing.

Interested applicants have until 4:30 p.m. Dec. 14 to file the correct paperwork to be considered for appointment to the eight-member Board that governs the county’s public school system. Completed applications must be emailed or delivered to the Prince William County Public Schools Headquarters at Independent Hill.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A Maryland man with years of experience in Minor League Baseball will take microphone inside the broadcast booth at Potomac Nationals games this spring.

The Woodbridge ball club announced Bryan Holland will serve as play-by-play announcer and  media relations director for the team in the upcoming 2013 season. The promotion comes after Holland worked in the team’s sales department.

LAKE RIDGE, Va. — After Prince William County has made moves to abandon its internal auditing department, questions have arisen about transparency in local government.

A report Tuesday in the Washington Post detailed a recent audit some claim was not made public because it details mismanagement of a $9 million pension program for county employees and volunteer firefighters.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — Police and Santa will take some special children shopping and to breakfast this year.

On two Saturday’s next month, Dec. 8 and Dec. 15, the Santa Cops program returns as Prince William police, officers at the county’s Adult Detention Center, Virginia State Police, and police from Manassas, Manassas Park, and Haymarket will treat 100 children to shopping and breakfast.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Featherstone National Wildlife Refuge opened with fanfare last year, marking the first time since the refuge’s founding the refuge in 1979 the public was welcome on the 325-acre property.

But that fanfare later prompted questions when word spread that the only legal way to access the property was by non-motorized watercraft from the Potomac River. In others words, if you were going to the Featherstone refuge you’d better bring a paddle.
