Baby Kenzi was originally due on Jan 17 and his date was pushed up a couple times. While home on New Years Eve, mom randomly begin to get contractions every 3 mins. Mom was unsure then contacted her mother, her mother told her she needs to go to the hospital. Mom still did not think she was ready, but went anyway. When she got there turns out baby Kenzi was ready, and birthed at 4:42 am on New Years Day. Baby was the first baby born in the 2017 at Sentara Hospital in Woodbridge, Va. Weighing in at 9.47 ounces with a length of 20 inches.

On Sunday, January 1st, at 2:06 a.m., fire and rescue units were dispatched to a structure fire in a two-story single family home located in the 13000 block of Kerrydale Road in Woodbridge.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed fire showing from the rear of the home. A request for a second alarm was issued due to reports of people trapped in the structure. As firefighters attacked the fire, the homeowner arrived on scene and confirmed all occupants were safely out of the home except for their pets. During extinguishment, firefighters located and rescued the owner’s three dogs in which one sustained minor injuries.

Malicious Wounding | Shooting InvestigationOn January 1 at 1:50AM, officers responded to investigate a shooting which occurred in the 15400 block of Wheatfield Dr in Dumfries (22025) earlier that evening. The investigation revealed that the accused was in the above area when he was involved in a verbal altercation with several subjects in a vehicle. During the encounter, the accused brandished a handgun and shot into the vehicle striking one of the occupants, a 19-year-old man of Woodbridge, in the upper body. The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries. Following the investigation, detectives with the Violent Crimes Bureau obtained warrants for the arrest of the accused. The accused was located and arrested without incident at his residence later that day.

Simply remove all ornaments, decorations, tinsel, nails and the tree stand and take the greenery to one of locations listed below to be recycled or repurposed.

I was scrolling through old Facebook posts searching for a photo to use for the obituary for longtime Manassas journalist Bennie Scarton Jr. when I stumbled upon a post from 2012.

I drove down Route 1 in Woodbridge and took some photos of brown spots in the area and asked readers to tell us “what should go here?” The particular location in this post is on the southbound side of Route 1, just south of Maurumsco Plaza and Prince William Parkway.

*MISSING ENDANGERED ADULT – UPDATE #2: The Prince William County Police Department continues to ask for the public’s assistance in locating Alan Cohee, who was reported as missing and endangered by a family member on November 11. Since Mr. Cohee’s disappearance, the Prince William County Police Department, with assistance from other local and state agencies, have conducted multiple searches of the immediate area surrounding his home. On December 29, Prince William County officers, with helicopter and K-9 assistance, conducted another search around Mr. Cohee’s residence on Featherstone Rd in Woodbridge and the immediate area. Nothing of note was located. There has still been no known contact with Mr. Cohee since he was last seen on November 10. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mr. Cohee is asked to call the non-emergency line at 703-792-6500.
