In Virginia, we have elections every year. This year, we even have three including a special election for school board on August 29 and then elections for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General and State Delegate on November 7.
Turnout in our state and local elections plummets. In my experience, a large reason is that voting takes precious time away from jobs and families and given Northern Virginia traffic, time is at a premium.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — Prince William police say they arrested two men suspected in two BB gun shootings on Tuesday in the county.
We’re hearing a train is stuck on railroad tracks in Woodbridge.
The stalled train is halting access to Featherstone Shores, a small neighborhood of homes in Belmont Bay. Featherstone Road is the only way in or out of the neighborhood.

Fatal Crash Investigation – On June 24 at 10:42 a.m., investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of Prince William Parkway and Scenic Point Place in Manassas to investigate a single vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.

BB Gun Shooting Investigations: Officers are currently working two separate shooting investigations involving a BB gun. The first occurred around 12:45 p.m. in the area of Darbydale Ave and Danville Rd in Woodbridge while the second occurred around 3:10 p.m. in the area of Sudley Manor Rd and Sudley Rd in Manassas.

Felony Child Neglect – On July 10 at 8:18p.m., officers responded to the 2100 block of Gunsmith Terrace in Woodbridge to investigate a child neglect. A citizen reported to police that a 1-year-old boy was playing in the street unsupervised.

Malicious Wounding – On July 9 at 10:34 a.m., officers responded to an apartment located in the 1300 block of Eisenhower Circle in Woodbridge to investigate a domestic violence call. The victim, a 24-year-old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she and the accused, a family member, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated.
INDEPENDENT HILL — Twelve new blue signs mark the entrances to Prince William County’s first scenic byways.
The signs note the new street designation, featuring the state bird red cardinal, and were unveiled Tuesday morning at the intersection of Bristow and Joplin roads at Independent Hill. Six roads in all made the cut:
