WOODBRIDGE – (Press Release) On July 7 at 10:59PM, officers responded to the area of Old Bridge Rd and Rolling Brook Dr in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a crash. The investigation revealed that a driver of a 1993 Toyota Standard was traveling westbound on Old Bridge Rd and attempted to make a left turn onto Rolling Brook Dr. The vehicle crossed in front of a 2016 Hyundai Elantra that was traveling eastbound on Old Bridge Rd. The driver of the Toyota is believed to have failed to yield the right-of-way to through traffic causing the collision. The driver of the Hyundai was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently arrested at the time of the crash. The driver of the Toyota was initially transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. On September 15, the driver died as a result of his injuries sustained in the crash. Prior to his death, the driver was transported out of state to another hospital facility. The Prince William County Police Department was recently notified of the death. The Crash Investigation Unit has reopened the investigation. The driver of the Hyundai reported minor injuries. The investigation continues.

LAKE RIDGE — (Press Release) On October 5 at 6:30 a.m., officers responded to the 7-Eleven located at 13304 Occoquan Rd in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a road rage incident.

The victim, a 27-year-old man, reported to police that he, and two other adult male passengers, were driving on the Prince William Pkwy in the area of Summerland Dr when the driver of a red minivan, later identified as the accused, began driving aggressively.

Prince William County – (Press Release) Firefighters in Prince William County will join students from around the county to celebrate International Walk to School Day on October 10, 2018. Approximately 10,000 students from 30 Prince William County Public Schools will be walking and rolling to school on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, along with parents, teachers, community leaders and members of the Department of Fire & Rescue.

The event will begin at various times corresponding with the school’s opening. Kids, parents and community leaders will walk from meeting points along the walker’s route. Walkers at some schools will be joined by Fire & Rescue personnel as they exit the buses and enter the schools for the day. Walk to School Day events raise awareness of the need to create safer routes for walking and bicycling and emphasize the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, traffic congestion and concern for the environment.

WOODBRIDGE — (Press Release) On October 5 at 4:09 p.m., investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the 14200 block of Jefferson Davis Hwy in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.

The investigation revealed that a driver of a 2018 Lexus RX400 was attempting to turn into a business from northbound Jefferson Davis Hwy across stopped, heavy southbound traffic when the vehicle was struck by a 2002 Kawasaki ZX600J motorcycle, which was traveling on the southbound shoulder of Jefferson Davis Hwy.
