A new bridge opened today on Bresntsville Road in Prince William County.
The new $2.8 million, 2-lane bridge carries drivers over Broad Run. The new bridge replaces an old bridge that dated back to 1957. The old bridge was closed to traffic in June.

This 20-year-old , 20-foot tree will be lit Friday at 6:30 p.m. As it does each year, the tree serves as the city’s official Christmas Tree.
People will gather starting at 5:30 p.m. on the lawn at the Manassas Museum to see a string of lights on the tree illuminated. A traditional Santa Claus will greet children at the nearby Harris Pavilion, and an old-fashioned Santa will greet children at the museum.

Donald Trump drew a mixture of fans from his TV days and his presidential campaign supporters to the Prince William County Fairgrounds Wednesday night.
The billionaire, reality TV star turned presidential candidate spoke for one and a half hours about foreign policy, about building a wall to stop illegal immigration from Mexico, and he took the time to bash President Obama, Democratic frontrunner Hilary Clinton, and his fellow Republican candidates also seeking the GOP nomination for president.

The Christmas season gets underway this weekend on our area with the following events:
The Christmas Tree in Downtown Manassas will be illuminated at 6:30 p.m. The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. when Santa Claus arrives at the Manassas Train Depot. There will be holiday music at 6 p.m.

Prince William County Executive Melissa Peacor will hang it up after 30 years on the job.
Peacor is in charge of overseeing all operations of Prince William County Government. She reports directly to the Board of Supervisors.
Chuy’s will open inside the old Macaroni Grill in Woodbridge in January, and the Tex Mex restaurant plans to hire 175 workers.

The body of a woman found at Carver Cemetery in Stafford County was sent to a medical examiner in Richmond. Authorities are working to determine the cause of death, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.
Authorities said foul play is not suspected in this case.
