From Prince William police:
Aggravated Malicious Wounding | Shooting Investigation – On June 24 at 9:04PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 1600 block of Fort Fisher Court in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a shooting. The investigation revealed that the victims, a 16 year old male juvenile and 25 year old man both of Dumfries, along with another resident were involved in a verbal altercation with the accused, identified as Cornelius Sean MCGRIFF.

A plan to seek requests for proposals to outsource the management of Prince William County’s Public Libraries is dead.
The county’s Board of Supervisors voted 7-1 on Tuesday to kill the measure proposed this past spring by Gainesville Supervisor Peter Candland. He gave the dissenting vote.

The Dumfries Town Council on Tuesday struck down a motion to pass a resolution demanding the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality to require Dominion to haul away toxic coal ash from Possum Point Power Station on the Potomac River.
The utility is in the process of consolidating water and toxic coal ash – a by-product produced when the power plant burned coal from 1947 to 2003 before it converted to gas — from four coal ash ponds into one lined pond.

The Virginia State Corporation Commission is in hearings today in Richmond over proposed rate increase for Virginia American Water customers who live in Dale City.
The rate increase would amount to $8.6 million more in revenues for the company, about and 18% increase in revenues, according to Prince William County documents.
The time has come to change the name of the Godwin Middle School voting precinct in Dale City.
When elections officials strip the Godwin name from the voting precinct, it will be the last trace of Mills E. Godwin in Prince William County Public Schools, the former Virginia Governor Dale City’s first middle school was named after.
