MANASSAS — A new, three-day multi-media art event, One Love Manassas, will be held in May.

Designed to give artists a platform to perform and share and leverage their art with the greater community, the event is aimed at bringing awareness and inspiring hope for the love of all artistic platforms — along with spreading a few other messages, according to Ken Moorman, co-owner of Jirani Coffeehouse in Historic Manassas.

Following the sudden resignation of Prince William County School Board Chairman Ryan Sawyers on March 7, 20 Prince William County residents tossed their names into the hat to be considered to be the next interim Chairman.

The School Board is slated to choose an interim replacement for Sawyers next month. A General Election will be held in November for a permanent replacement who will complete Sawyer’s term ending in December 2019.

TRIANGLE — It was almost as if a tornado cut a path through Prince William Forest Park. 

Park Chief Chris Alford said major damage from a violent windstorm that struck the region on March 2 and 3 could be seen in a straight line from the Oak Ridge tent campground area, south over Mawavi Road in the park, and over cabin camps two and five.

STAFFORD — It’s going to be one of those marathon Board of Supervisors meetings. 

Elected leaders on Tuesday are not only going to take up the topic of the proposed FY 2019 $583 million budget, but County Administrator Thomas Foley will ask the Board to set a tax rate. At $0.965 for every $100 of the assessed real estate, he’s proposed a rate that’s about three cents lower than last year’s rate.

There has been much questioning and speculation about my plans to run for the Interim Chair position on the Prince William County School Board. This letter is designed to end those questions. I never applied to become Chairman and have no desire to seek that position now. I am first and foremost the representative for the Occoquan District until December 31, 2019.
