Winery at Bull Run to double production

Winery lovers will be pleased with this news we received via a press release:

CENTREVILLE—Governor Ralph Northam today announced that The Winery at Bull Run will invest $1.7 million, create 38 new jobs, and double production of its award-winning wines, which are made using only Virginia-grown grapes. The winery, which opened in 2012 on 225 acres adjacent to the Manassas National Battlefield Park, also produces grapes on site and at its 40-acre vineyard in Rappahannock County. Its location by the battlefield and proximity to Washington D.C. have made the winery an important tourist attraction, bringing thousands of tourists to the Commonwealth each year.

Project will add 3 southbound lanes to I-95, over 6 miles along congested sections in Fredericksburg

FREDERICKSBURG – Construction to unlock gridlock on Interstate 95 in Fredericksburg has begun, and crews are working to add three new southbound lanes over six miles on one of the most congested sections of I-95 near the Rappahannock River.

St. Lucy Food Project receives commercial refrigerator and freezer, aiding efforts

We received notification that the St. Lucy Food Project, a food warehouse in Manassas serving more than 40,000 of the underprivileged living in Northern Virginia, obtained a commercial walk-in refrigerator and freezer. Up until now, the warehouse was limited to non-perishable foods. This week, the fridge and freezer were blessed by Bishop Burbidge.

Local sports centers weigh in on planned U.S. Tennis Association Mid-Atlantic tennis facility

In February of this year, the United States Tennis Association Mid-Atlantic (USTA MAS) announced it will locate its new headquarters and state-of-the-art tennis facility in Innovation Park, in Prince William County. The Board of County Supervisors approved an agreement between USTA MAS and the Industrial Development Authority (IDA) of Prince William County and agreed to assign a $100,000 Economic Development Opportunity Fund (EDOF) grant as an incentive for the project, which is due to be completed by 2021.

The USTA Mid-Atlantic Section, one of 17 sections of the United States Tennis Association, is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization serving more than 33,000 members in the D.C. metro area. According to the USTA MAS, tennis players of all ages and skill levels are involved in leagues, tournaments and programs sanctioned by the section. Over 300,000 visitors are anticipated to visit the new USTA facility per year.
