STAFFORD (Press Release) — A wanted suspect was arrested on Monday morning at Stafford Marketplace by deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office after striking ten vehicles and climbing onto the roof of a Five Guys restaurant where he hid in an air conditioning unit.

On October 29, 2018, at approximately 9:58 a.m., deputies responded to reports of multiple vehicle accidents in the area of the Bank of America located at Stafford Marketplace. Upon arrival, deputies determined that the driver of a Ford pick-up truck hauling a trailer holding another pickup truck crashed into ten vehicles— four of which were occupied when struck. Both of the pickup trucks later returned stolen. Four subjects were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

STAFFORD — Stafford County continues to have issues with opportunistic criminals rifling through and stealing from unlocked vehicles.

Amanda Vicinanzo from the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office reported only about 26 percent of thefts and incidents of vehicle rummaging happened in locked vehicles. This shows that locking your vehicle and taking your valuables inside can be very effective against deterring thieves.

DUMFRIES — Mayor Derrick Wood took a tour of the archaeological dig in Dumfries ordered by Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).

Wood said VDOT ordered the dig to uncover any historical value in the town before proceeding with their major road project along Route 1.
