Prince William police press release | On January 15 at 2:08 a.m., officers responded to a residence located in the 15600 block of Montview Dr. in Dumfries (22025) to investigate a stabbing.

The victim, a 45-year-old man, reported to police that he was with a man and a woman he met that night when an altercation ensued. During the encounter, the victim, he was scratched, bitten and stabbed by the other parties. Eventually, the victim was able to separate himself and flee the residence. The victim reported minor injuries. During the investigation, officers identified the woman as Genevieve Marie VIRAGO, and obtained warrants for her arrest. Attempts to locate the suspect have been unsuccessful. The investigation continues as officers seek to identify the man involved.

10 a.m. Friday, January 17 | The House Republicans in Richmond will get their secure briefing on the alleged threats facing the capitol plaza.

The briefing will take place in a secure location this afternoon, House J. Garren Shipley told Potomac Local this morning. Republicans pushed for more information following Gov. Ralph Northam’s gun ban ahead of Monday’s right-to-bear-arms rally planned for the capitol grounds on Monday.

Resolutions to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment swiftly passed the General Assembly Wednesday. The House version passed 59-41 and the Senate bill cleared with a 28-12 vote. The next step will be for each resolution to pass the other chamber, sometime in February.

“As the House sponsor of the bill, it is an honor to lead the effort in this historic moment for women,” said Delegate Jennifer Carroll Foy, D-Prince William, in a released statement. “This vote demonstrates how greater female representation in government can significantly improve the lives of women across the country. We are here and will be heard.”

Fearing a repeat of the deadly violence that engulfed Charlottesville more than two years ago, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam plans to declare a temporary emergency Wednesday banning all weapons, including guns, from Capitol Square ahead of a massive rally planned next week over gun rights.
