MANASSAS, Va. — The Prince William Boys and Girls Clubs has developed a website for mobile devices that allows you to easily give online.
The new site, m.bgcprincewilliam.org, provides information about the clubs in Dale City, Dumfries, and Manassas, as well as videos of children who benefit from the clubs’ activities. There’s also a link to donate to the “Send a Kid to Camp” campaign, which organizes summer youth activities for children involved in the clubs, said clubs director Glenn Vickers.
Plans moving ahead for I-95 tolls
WTOPNEWS.COM reports There could be some idea by the end of May where new toll facilities will be placed on Interstate 95 in Virginia, as well as an estimate on how much they might cost.
Corey Stewart buys 1740 estate in Woodbridge
WASHINGTONPOST.COM reports It seems Prince William County‘s Corey Stewart is having a pretty good month. Last week, the Republican Board of Supervisors chairman announced his campaign for lieutenant governor. And on Wednesday, he and his wife, Maria, bought what is believed to be Prince William’s oldest home during a live auction — a Woodbridge estate where Thomas Jefferson once stayed and George Washington once honeymooned.
It takes a lot to keep a community of this size clean. But there are some dedicated individuals who work hard to do just that.
I’ll be joining Keep Prince William Beautiful at 9 a.m. Saturday for the annual Route 1 Clean Up. I’m told to meet outside the old Five Guys restaurant at Marumsco Plaza in Woodbridge to pick up some supplies and some always appreciated refreshments, and then we’ll begin working out way along U.S. 1, picking up litter and whatever else we find during our walk.

Chances are, as you’re going through life, there are things that you’re going to want to do, see or accomplish. These goals often end up filed mentally in a, “bucket list,” for a time where you feel gutsy enough, or find the opportune time to check them off your list. I got to check off an item on my bucket list this past week; that being, to run and host my own fashion show. While this sounds trite, and may conjure up images of a sequel to the Devil Wears Prada, it’s not for the glamorized and vain reasons as one may imagine.

RICHMOND, Va. – When the first Earth Day was held in 1970, it was dedicated to environmental education and increasing public awareness of the Earth. This year, when Virginia State Parks celebrates the Earth Day weekend of April 21-22, it will be filled with educational opportunities and family activities as varied as hydroponic gardens, shore-line clean-ups, wagon rides and rummage sales.

RICHMOND, Va. — Virginia Gov. Robert F. McDonnell hosted the state’s first “Governor’s Easter Egg Hunt” at Capitol Square in Richmond. PotomacLocal.com’s KJ Mushung was there to get photos of the event that attracted 1,500 people.
