STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. – Officials said human remains found behind a GEICO Insurance call center on U.S. 17 in Stafford County on New Year’s Eve are those of a man who was last seen walking near a North Stafford commuter lot in 2011.

MOM ON THE RUN
This week I got the news I had been waiting to hear: PotomacLocal.com is now an official member of the Local Independent Online News Publishers organization, or LION for short.
I sort of expected it since I was at the founding meeting of the organization this past September in Chicago and because I had paid my membership dues. But it’s good to get the final confirmation and to see your name up there with about one hundred other independent publishers from around the U.S. who are all striving to put “local” back into local news.

Virginia transportation officials are warning drivers to expect daytime closures on Interstate 95 in the area of Quantico Marine Corps Base this week. The work is to repair a slope along the highway and it’s not considered a part of the larger effort to bring I-95 Express toll lanes to North Stafford.
