After a failure of two drainage pipes, Furnace Road was closed in the beginning of February, rerouting residents to Joshua Road while VDOT has been underway, making repairs.

According to Kelly Hannon, Communications Manager for VDOT, progress is being made on repairing the pipes, and making Furnace Road passable for drivers.

Officials in Richmond are raising questions about how local police departments, including Prince William County’s, store data collected from automatic license plate readers.

On Monday, several officials to include Delegate Richard Anderson (R-Prince William) and Senator Chap Petersen (D-Fairfax) announced they would band together to “protect the privacy and liberty of Virginians against unnecessary intrusion by government agencies and law enforcement.”

With the icy conditions in the Stafford area, the Stafford County schools have decided to start on a two hour delay for today.

Stafford County Schools will operate on a two hour delay today, Tuesday, February 18. Inclement weather conditions will be reassessed at 7:15 a.m. There will be no a.m. preschool classes. No change to p.m. preschool classes.

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors recently approved an agreement with LEEP Holdings, LLC, of Vienna to begin a project to convert solid waste to reusable products at the Prince William County Landfill. LEEP was among three companies that submitted proposals to the County for this project. The first phase of the project is a final planning and engineering period for LEEP, to prove to the County that the project will work.
