“Control over drawing congressional district lines shifting temporarily back to the Virginia General Assembly is in a proposal from a Democratic state lawmaker,” The Center Square reported. “House Bill 1384, carried by Del. Luke Torian, D-Prince William, would set April 21 as the date for a statewide referendum on a proposed constitutional amendment tied to congressional redistricting.”

The proposal would allow the General Assembly to redraw Virginia’s congressional districts once before the 2030 census, even though current maps were drawn by the Virginia Supreme Court after the state’s bipartisan redistricting commission failed to reach an agreement following delays in the 2020 census. If approved by voters, the change would be temporary, with the commission resuming its role after the next census.

The Rose Gaming Resort is teaming up with three Prince William County delegates to host a Thanksgiving turkey giveaway this Saturday, November 22, at Gar-Field Senior High School in Woodbridge. About 750 turkeys will be handed out free of charge to county residents on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 9 a.m.

The event is a partnership between The Rose’s parent company, Churchill Downs Incorporated, and Delegates Luke Torian (D-24), Candi Mundon King (D-23), and Briana Sewell (D-25). It’s part of the company’s ongoing community engagement through its “Rosie’s Gives Back” program, which supports charitable causes across Virginia.

DUMFRIES, Va. – A proposal to name a new public park after Delegate Luke Torian (D-24, Prince William County) and his wife, Clarice, was removed from the July 1, 2025, Dumfries Town Council agenda — delaying what many community members hoped would be a celebratory vote.

The park, which sits atop the town’s former landfill site, is part of a major transformation that’s turning more than 80 acres of reclaimed land into a public green space overlooking Quantico Creek. The site is adjacent to the Rose Gaming Resort and represents one of the most visible symbols of the town’s revitalization.
