Virginia Railway Express officials say there may be some delays on Monday as trains could be forced to move slower through the Marine Corps Base, but they are not anticipating a full-service shut down on the Fredericksburg line like they had Friday.

Quantico, Va. – Train service between Washington and Richmond should be restored this afternoon.
Officials with CSX, the owners of the rail line, say repairs should be completed this afternoon and train traffic on the rails will be able to return to normal. (more…)
Officials say between Memorial Day and Labor Day is when your car is most likely to be stolen. And though the number of auto thefts in the area has dropped in recent years, more than 17,000 cars were stolen last year in the Washington area, said AAA Mid Atlantic spokesman John Townsend. (more…)

Mt. Vernon, Va. – The Fairfax County Stormwater Planning Division held a community forum Thursday to present a draft management plan for three Fairfax County watersheds – Belle Haven, Dogue Creek and Four Mile Run. The forum was designed to promote understanding of watersheds and allow county officials to show its residents proposed plans to help improve and maintain watershed functions. (more…)
11:30 a.m. Update
Quantico, Va. – The coal train that derailed Thursday at Quantico has spurred cancellations and delays for most of the east coast.
A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Stafford, Prince William and Fairfax counties.
A lines of severe thunderstorms were approaching in the area, all capable of producing winds of 60 mph, hail and heavy rains.
The area is under a heat advisory today from the National Weather Service today, where were told to expect temperatures that feel like 100 to 105 degrees.
Those triple-digit temperatures are actually the heat index values forecasted today between 8 a.m. and 11 p.m. The actual temperatures are forecasted to reach the upper 90s today, the weather service stated. (more…)
Fairfax County, Va. – Police say a Maryland man accidentally drowned last weekend in the Potomac River.
An investigation was launched when the body of 46-year-old Kenneth E. Huggins, of Suitland, Md. was found Sunday after a 911 call reported him missing the day before. (more…)
