Residents not buying Dumfries mayor’s claim he didn’t know about new neighborhood

Dumfries is Virginia's oldest continually chartered town.

A public hearing took place on May 8 concerning the Harbor Reserve Project in Prince William County and a partial easement in the Town of Dumfries. Present at the meeting were members of the Dumfries Town Council, a representative from County Supervisor Andrea Bailey’s office, the Dumfries Town Manager, the Dumfries Town Attorney, and other Dumfries Town staff.

Dumfries celebrated its 275th anniversary with a grand Gala held at the National Museum of the Marine Corps on May 10, 2024. The event, emceed by Guy Lambert, a radio news anchor now with WTTG-TV in Washington, D.C., drew an attendance of approximately 150-200 guests, falling short of the advertised 350 “sold out” crowd advertised by the town.

The Stafford County Board of Supervisors faces a looming decision on the Clift Farm proposal by Jarrell Properties, Inc., which seeks to rezone 57 acres from Agricultural to Urban Residential – Medium Density. The development area, located on Clift Farm Road, just off Leland Road in the Falmouth District, plans for 141 age-restricted homes.
