WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Prince William has a new Department of Parks and Recreation after officials voted Tuesday to merge county government with the Prince William County Park Authority – an independent corporation in continuous existence since 1977.

The merger puts control of all 67 properties owned by the Authority in the hands of the county government, under the leadership of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors. The independent parks board will now be merged with the county to become a Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.

LAKE RIDGE, Va. — It’s the final week for the Lake Ridge Neighborhood Library before its current location closes.

Prince William County Library officials said the location will close Monday as workers prepare to move the library’s contents to a new location inside nearby Tacketts Mill shopping center, at 2230 Old Bridge Road in Lake Ridge.

LAKE RIDGE, Va. — Police announced the arrest of a Lake Ridge man suspected of possessing child pornography.

Officials with the Northern Virginia / Washington, D.C. Internet Crimes against Children Task Force, or ICAC, were tipped off to their suspect in August. During an ongoing investigation police obtained a search warrant for their suspect’s home at 4120 Burning Ridge Court off Springwoods Drive in Lake Ridge on August 25. But it wasn’t until Feb. 7 that the suspect was charged with a crime, according to Prince William police documents.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — After a nationwide search, Jeffrey A. Kaczmarek has been named the Economic Development Director for Prince William County because of his expertise, experience and documented successes in local economic development efforts.

Educators said they will gather at Va. 234 Prince William Parkway and Minnieville Road near the Prince William County Public Schools administration complex to once again let school leaders know they’re not happy about the prospect of not receiving a raise.
