OCCOQUAN, Va. — The Fox News Network was in Virginia’s Potomac Communities today showcasing area landmarks for an evening news show.
The network’s “Special Report with Bret Baier” broadcasted live from Maddigan’s Waterfront Grill in Occoquan from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday. The hour-long show came to Prince William County because the jurisdiction has been called a “swing county” that could determine or predict who will the presidency in the November General Election.
NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — Its slow going on Interstate 95 south this afternoon after a truck reportedly ran off the road at mile post 147, just across the Prince William County line in North Stafford.
One southbound lane of the highway was closed because of the crash, Virginia’s highway department reports. We don’t have word yet from Stafford fire officials or state police, but we do know traffic is snarled from at least Prince William Parkway south to the scene of the crash. WTOP Radio reports traffic begins moving once again after drivers pass the crash site.
DUMFRIES, Va. – Virginia’s first town will join the ranks of other communities in our area who have farmers markets.
Starting Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, the new Dumfries Farmers Market will be held in the parking lot at Town Hall on U.S. 1. It’ll be a weekly event each Saturday through Oct. 27, except on Sept. 8 when no market is planned for that day.
WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Rescue crews were called to a crash on Interstate 95 in Woodbridge about 4:30 p.m. Saturday. No serious injuries were reported.
It could get windy and stormy around here tonight as we’re in for another day of hot and humid temperatures.
Virginia could face some strong winds this afternoon as a cold front moving in from the west could bring severe thunderstorms and hail. Some of the storms could produce localized corridors of higher winds, according to the National Weather Service Strom Prediction Center.
It’s hot outside today, ridiculously so. It’s hot enough for the National Weather Service to issue an excessive heat warning. And the air quality is so poor that a Code Red ozone alert is place today from the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments.
At noon today, the temperature at Aquia Harbour in North Stafford was 98 degrees. In Woodbridge, the mercury was set at 97 degrees, according to the weather service.
TRIANGLE, Va. — A crash involving a camper trailer stalled traffic on Interstate 95 north about 2 p.m. Friday.

TRIANGLE, Va. — Everyone in the Potomac Communities who lost power after June 29’s derecho storm is back online.
An interactive map from Domnion Virginia Power shows no storm-related outages in our area today. Thursday afternoon, Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative announced it had also restored all power to those who lost it in last week’s powerful storm.
