DUMFRIES, Va. — Prince William police said two men recently struck by Virginia Railway Express trains during two separate incidents appeared to be suicidal.
Police told Fredericksburg.com that a 44-year-old man jumped in front of an oncoming train at the Cherry Hill Peninsula near Dumfries Nov. 5.

DUMFRIES, Va. — A Dumfries police officer was taken to a hospital, treated, and released Friday after she was involved in a crash.
It happened on Fraley Boulevard (U.S. 1) at 6:30 p.m., just south of Graham Park Road. Another driver rear-ended the police officer, said Dumfries police Chief Robert Forker.

Woodbridge’s River Oaks voting precinct has more than 4,000 active registered voters assigned to it and saw a 64 percent voter turnout rate Tuesday. Voters here waited in long lines, and in line before the polls closed at 7 p.m. waited for up to four hours to cast their votes.

DUMFRIES, Va. — Businessman and U.S. Marine Derrick Wood has been elected to the Dumfries Town Council.
Wood was a write-in candidate competing against two others, including incumbent Dumfries Town Council member Louis Parino whose name was not on the ballot.
