Crews will soon begin re-aligning a right turn lane that carries drivers from Va. 234 to U.S. 1 south. The improvements will also come with some changes to traffic signals in the area, said Virginia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Jennifer McCord.

On two Saturday’s next month, Dec. 8 and Dec. 15, the Santa Cops program returns as Prince William police, officers at the county’s Adult Detention Center, Virginia State Police, and police from Manassas, Manassas Park, and Haymarket will treat 100 children to shopping and breakfast.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — The Prince William County Electoral Board thought they had enough voting machines. Last night they admitted they didn’t, and that led to voters at Woodbridge’s River Oaks precinct waiting in lines for up to four hours to cast their ballot Election Day Nov. 6. The last ballot was marked at River Oaks at 10:45 p.m., marking it the most problematic of the county’s 84 77 voting precincts.
DUMFRIES, Va. – The Dumfries Town Council swore in incumbent Gwen Washington and new councilman Derrick Wood on Tuesday, Nov. 13. Washington was the only candidate on the ballot during the Nov. 6 General Election.
Washington is a life-long resident of Dumfries and a staff member at Dumfries Elementary School. An incumbent, she was appointed to the town council to serve following the death of Mayor Fred Yohey to fill a seat vacated by Nancy West, who no longer serves on the council.
DUMFIRES, Va. — What does the inside of the Possum Point Power station look like? Just ask 74 students who toured the facility last week as part of a special field trip two the facility in Dumfries owned by Dominion Virginia Power.
While there the students got an overview of what it’s like to work in the power generation station, and what operations take place in the station’s welding shop, maintenance shed, and environmental sciences department.
