From Prince William County Public Library System spokesman Andrew Spence: 

The Library is very excited about celebrating Montclair’s [Community Library, located at 5049 Waterway Drive] 1 year anniversary. On Saturday, February 4, 2017, the festivities will start at 1:00 p.m. There will be live music, face painting, crafts and games that are perfect for the whole family. In addition, there will be some cake and cupcakes to enjoy.

DUMFRIES, Va. — The Town of Dumfries annual Black History Month celebration may be canceled.

Rep. Gerry Connolly (Fairfax, Prince William), Prince William County School Board member Lillie Jessie, and Dumfries Elementary School Principal Marlene Coleman were invited to speak at the event. None have accepted the invitation to speak.

The challenge is simple: make the tastiest meal (or at least the most palatable) out of two MRE packs “blindly” pulled from a box and whatever ingredients each chef can fit into his or her “cargo pocket” (the big pocket on the trousers of field uniforms, about the equivalent of a quart-size plastic bag). With a cooktop fueled by a Sterno can, contestants will work their magic, hoping to be awarded the coveted Golden Canteen Cup.  Contestants can cook alone or in two-person teams.

From Prince William police: 

Homicide Investigation *UPDATE – On January 13, the body discovered along the Potomac River in the 1500 block of Cherry Hill Rd in Dumfries underwent an autopsy at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Manassas. Based upon further examination of the victim’s body and the police investigation, detectives from the Homicide Unit are now classifying this death as a homicide. The victim was found on January 12 and appeared to have suffered trauma to his body. Preliminarily, the victim has been identified as an adult male. The victim’s identification will be released once a next of kin has been notified. The investigation continues. This is Prince William County’s first homicide of 2017.
