From Prince William police: 

Impersonating a Police Officer | Stolen Vehicle *ARREST – On June 23, detectives with the Intel Unit were notified by detectives from the Fairfax County Police Department that they had identified and arrested the suspect who had impersonated a police officer in the area of Prince William Pkwy and Reids Prospect Dr in Woodbridge on June 18 while driving a stolen white 2016 Chevrolet Silverado. The accused, identified as Tyson RASCHER, was charged by Fairfax for charges related to the stolen vehicle. Detectives with the Prince William Police Intel Unit subsequently obtained additional charges for impersonating a police officer and eluding police.

A new $4 million walkway will bridge a trail gap over the Neabsco Creek.

The Prince William County Board of Supervisors awarded the funds to construct a new boardwalk to become part of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail, which runs from the Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania to the Chesapeake Bay. Thirty-eight miles of the trail run in Prince William County, and while the trail is a National Park Service project, it’s up to the localities in which the trail runs to fund its construction, according to county documents.

Chief Barry Barnard of the Prince Willam County Police Department looked back on a violent year.

There were 22 murders in the county in 2016, marking the highest murder rate in Prince William County in 15 years. It topped 2006 when there were 16 murders in the county.

A total of $4.3 million in proffers from the developers of a new townhome complex was too much for county leaders to pass up.

Apollo Enterprises got the green light from the Prince William County Board of Supervisors for a rezoning to build up to 100 new townhomes, a self-storage lot, and small retail shops on near the corner of Prince William Parkway and Hoadly Road near Woodbridge. The project will also bring an extension of Ridgefield Village Parkway, connecting Hoadly Road with Apollo Drive.

“Strong Arm Robbery | Hit & Run *ARREST – On June 20, Brittany I’Esha BENNETT turned herself into police without incident at the Gar-Field Station in Woodbridge. The accused was wanted for robbery which occurred in the area of Jefferson Davis Hwy and Dale Blvd in Woodbridge on June 10.

Transportation officials in Prince William County identified seven projects at the cost of $9.35 million that need to be completed ahead of a new Potomac Nationals baseball stadium.

These roadway improvements are all centered around the site of the $35 million proposed baseball stadium, which sits at Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center, between a Wegmans grocery store and Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center.
