Charles P. “Chuck” Wilson, Colonel, USAF, Ret., was elected as Chairman of the Potomac Region Veterans Council. Wilson, also the Commander and executive Director of VFW Post 7916 in Occoquan, is a Aerospace Business Consultant with the Goyak Group, and a business executive who has been with L-3 Communications, and the Raytheon Company. Wilson completed a distinguished Air Force career that includes three Command tours (chief executive) at multiple Command levels, served in key positions within the Office of the Secretary of Defense, The Joint Staff, and the US Department of State. Additionally, he was a U-2 pilot, U-2 instructor pilot, Director of U-2 operations, and Commander that piloted highly sensitive missions worldwide.

The Potomac Region Veterans Council (PRVC) was formed in June 1972 to coordinate and promote the common good of veterans of the Northern Virginia area and to honor our fallen comrades on Veterans’ Day and Memorial Day. The Council today represents over 15,000 veterans in 29 different veterans’ organizations.

Civics students at Beville Middle School, nearly 360 in all, will get a real sense of our democracy when they head to “voting booths” in their school next Thursday, November 3. The eighth-graders are studying a unit on the Executive Branch, including the Electoral College, political parties, the role of media in elections, and citizenship in a democracy. The League of Women Voters is helping to run the mock election. Students will vote using paper ballots which will resemble the actual Virginia ballot.

From Prince William police: 

Felony Hit & Run | Attempted Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On October 26 at 6:53PM, officers responded to the area of Minnieville Rd and Dale Blvd in Woodbridge (22193) for an initial report of a reckless driver. Multiple callers reported to police that the driver of 1999 Chevrolet Suburban was traveling in the above area in a reckless manner. As a result of the driver’s actions, multiple other occupied vehicles were struck before the vehicle became disabled on Minnieville Rd near Caton Hill Rd. When officers arrived, the driver, identified as the accused, refused to exit the vehicle. After a brief struggle, the accused was eventually removed from the vehicle and detained. During the arrest, the accused attempted to strike one of the officers. Once in custody, the driver was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and suspected PCP. The accused sustained a minor head injury during the incident and was treated at an area hospital. Two drivers of the other vehicles struck was also transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. In total, the accused struck 8 vehicles and impacted traffic in the area for several hours

DALE CITY, Va. — A motorcycle and another vehicle were involved in a crash near the intersection of Minnieville Road and Dale Boulevard. 

Police closed multiple lanes Minnieville Road near Cheshire Station shopping center following the crash that occurred about 8 a.m. Tuesday. At least one person was taken to a hospital.

From Prince William police: 

Armed Robbery – On October 22 at 6:19PM, officers were advised of a robbery which was reported to have occurred in a room at the Best Western located at 14619 Potomac Mills Rd in Woodbridge (22192) on October 21 around 8:30PM. The victim, a 33-year-old man of Woodbridge, reported to police that he made arrangements to meet an unknown woman at the above hotel. When the woman arrived, she was accompanied by a female acquaintance. Once inside the room, the female acquaintance pulled out a “stun gun” type weapon and demanded the victim’s property. The suspects took the victim’s wallet, computer and money before fleeing. No injuries were reported.

DALE CITY, Va. — Prince William police were called to a Dale City neighborhood for a third time this week to investigate shots fired into a house. 

Police were called back to the Hillendale section of Dale City on Tuesday night for another report of shots fired at a house. Police linked this new report, at a home on Hoffman Drive, to a similar incident that occurred on the same street over the weekend.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — The Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission is 30 years old. 

The transit agency that operates OmniRide and OmniLink buses in Prince William County, as well as plays a role in Virginia Railway Express, held a celebration on October 8 to mark the occasion, at the PRTC Transit Center in Woodbridge.

DALE CITY, Va. — From Prince William police:

Shooting into a Residential DwellingOn October 16 at 2:06PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 4700 block of Kirkdale Dr in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a destruction of property call. The homeowner reported to police that on October 15, around 10:00PM, a loud noise was heard coming from outside the residence. The following day, the homeowner discovered broken glass in a vacant bedroom and, what appeared to be, a bullet hole in the window. This incident is possibly related to a similar call on Keytone Rd reported around the same time on October 15. Officers located a shell casing in the roadway. No injuries were reported.
