We are storing stuff in closets and basements, in attics and sheds and garages. We store stuff in the trunk of our car and we build shelves and buy containers to store more stuff. Our cabinets are full of stuff. There’s stuff under our beds- Hell, we buy storage beds!

This fact sheet from SSA, (Self-Storage Association) states America has 2.3 billion square feet (as of Q4-2013) or an area well more than 3 times the size of Manhattan for self-storage space.

Instead of doing the usual act of buying a tie or hosting a cookout for Father’s Day, why not spend a full day with Dad. Whether a sports fanatic or music buff there are plenty of activities to enjoy in Prince William & Manassas.

Take Dad out to the National Museum of the Marine Corps for family fun at the Marine Corps Animals Family Day on June 14! Kids can learn about the contributions animals have made to the U.S. Marine Corps. Bond with Dad as you tour America’s history through the eyes of the Marines in the interactive museum. Go through boot camp or try shooting an M-16 in the laser rifle range.

I don’t closely follow school issues because I rely on my school board representative, Lisa Bell, to come out swinging on behalf of the Neabsco District. Bell does do that, but she is only one member of the school board.

There are a couple of other very active advocates in my circle of friends. Our Schools and PWC Education Reform, both of whom follow all sorts of school issues. I am sure there are many other groups, but these women are all friends of mine, whose opinions I trust and use to clarify issues for me.

I don’t need scientific data, I can just look in my garden. All plants come up earlier. June bugs arrive in May. Lenten roses are blooming in February.
