Good morning  – It’s time for Christmas in July! You won’t want to miss the fun activities to benefit our Un Trim A Tree Holiday Gift program for needy kids living here in our community. Christmas in July is a two day event starting at 5pm on July 24th with Old Town Manassas Restaurants collecting toys and donating a portion of their receipts to the program so this is the perfect way to treat your family to dinner out on a Thursday night in Old Town. · Good morning – Saved Hands Foundation offers a number of services to homeless individuals in Woodbridge. Volunteers are needed to teach Microsoft Office during traditional business hours. They also need a grant writer to help solicit resources to help their clients. Come be part of this expanding team. Please call Pamela at (703) 895-6681 to learn more.

· Transitional Housing BARN needs adult volunteers to help sort and organize donations for their monthly yard sales. Come join the team that works during the week between 8am-2pm. They also need volunteers the second Saturday of each month to set up from 6am-8:30 am and then take down late morning. · Good morning  – Transitional Housing BARN needs adult volunteers to help sort and organize donations for their monthly yard sales. Come join the team that works during the week between 8am-2pm. They also need volunteers the second Saturday of each month to set up from 6am-8:30 am and then take down late morning. · Good morning – The Manassas Department of Family Services has a special request of food donations for homeless individuals. These folks do not have the ability to cook or prepare meals as we do at home so items needed include tuna and chicken in pouches, pop-top fruits, cup of soup where you pour the hot water over and let it sit, trail mixes, hand wipes and other fun things you come across in the grocery store. Please drop off your donations at Family Services- 9324 West Street Manassas during traditional business hours of 8:30-4:30pm.

· Hey teens age 16yrs. And older – SERVE in Manassas has the perfect way to start your summer volunteering. They have an urgent need for help with inventory at the Thrift Store on June 24th from 8am-noon. It’s the end of their fiscal year so this is a very important task at hand. · Good morning  – Transitional Housing BARN needs volunteers this Saturday June 14th to help with their monthly yard sale. This is a super fun event and volunteers are needed from 6:30am-12:30pm so there’s plenty of time to hit the pool afterward. They are also have a critical need for NEW bedding for twin beds for moms, girls and boys as well as bathroom towels, shower curtains and bath rugs. · Please don’t forget that Hurricane season is right around the corner so mark your calendars for our annual Hurricane preparedness sales tax holiday – May 25th-31st. It’s a great time to stock up on chainsaws, ice packs, batteries, light sources, first aid kits, radios, tarps and fire extinguishers to name just a few. I will have more to come so mark your calendars!

· Good morning  – The Salvation Army and Old Bridge United Methodist Church need your help on Thursday May 22nd from 10-noon to sort donated food for their Mobile Food Pantry. The food pantry is located at the B-thrifty thrift store on route 1 in Woodbridge. This is quick and easy to get their deliveries out in the neighborhoods. · The Salvation Army also needs a Spanish speaker to help with gathering information from needy families seeking assistance at their Woodbridge office. They would love this volunteer 1-2 days a week either in the morning or afternoon. This is a busy office offering great services to the community and a wonderful way for anyone interested in social services to gather great experience. · Good morning – Here are some great ideas for the beautiful weather we are finally getting: Merrimac Farm needs volunteers for their next workday on Saturday May 24th at 10am. · Adult volunteers are needed at the next Fall Risk Prevention Screening on Saturday May 17th in Gainesville from 10am-3pm. Good morning – Help feed hungry families by volunteering at the SERVE Food Pantry. Volunteers are needed to assemble food packages to needy families on weekdays 9am-noon or 1pm-4pm. This is a fun active job that helps our most vulnerable neighbors. Volunteers must be at least 16yrs old. Please email Jan at:[email protected] to learn more.

Speaking of hungry families – the Haymarket Food Pantry needs your help as they are low on food supplies for needy families. Please consider picking up a few extras items when you shop for groceries this week. Especially needed at this time includes cereal, oatmeal, canned fish, soup, pasta, beans and rice, canned fruit, baby food and canned vegetables. You can drop off your donations on Monday and Friday mornings 10am-noon at the pantry located at: 14740 Washington Street in Haymarket.
