MANASSAS, Va. — The Virginia Department of Transportation’s Office of Civil Rights will host the 8th Annual Transportation Career for high school students on Oct. 4 at the Prince William Fairgrounds in Manassas from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. “Transportation: Your Ride to the Future!” is the theme.
The career fair exposes high school students to the rewarding and diverse careers in the transportation industry, including engineering, construction, architecture, environmental and technology.

On September 25 at Westminster at Lake Ridge, The Prince William Committee of 100 will host a Candidates’ Forum for the Occoquan District seat on the Prince William County School Board. All four candidates who will be on the ballot November 6th have agreed to participate in this forum.
LAKE RIDGE, Va. — Despite rumors, Virginia transportation officials did not order a stop to the annual Woodbridge Senior High School Homecoming Parade.
The community event draws a large crowd of students, school staff, and neighbors in the Lake Ridge area, but it can also mean traffic headaches for drivers using a portion of the parade route on and around Old Bridge Road – a popular commuter thoroughfare.
Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center has partnered with the Prince William Courage Soccer Club and the Prince William County public school to launch a new afterschool program that will focus on fitness, understanding health, and nutrition. The program has been dubbed the Prince William Courage “F.U.N.” Project, and it marks it’s debut on Tuesday.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — A work session for the Prince William County School Board originally set for Wednesday night is postponed until September. 19.
The session will follow the regularly scheduled 6 p.m. meeting of the School Board on Wednesday, Sept. 19. According to an agenda, the work session will begin at 9 p.m. and cover items on the school system’s five-year plan.

Summer break ended for faculty at all of Stafford County’s public schools today. Many returned to the classroom to prep for the upcoming school year, and to welcome parents and students at a series of back-to-school events this week.
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — Students in Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) scored above the national composite average for the fifth straight year on the college benchmark ACT.
Students in four Prince William County High Schools exceeded the state average while overall Division scores remained the same as last year. Battlefield, Brentsville District, Forest Park, and Osbourn Park students achieved composite scores of 23.5, 24.0, 22.4 and 23.4 respectively, exceeding the state composite score of 22.4 and joining other PWCS schools in besting the national outcome of 21.1.
Registration for night school classes will begin Sept. 4 at each of Prince William’s high schools.
