Students and staff have returned to classrooms at Occoquan Elementary School.

Power is now restored to Dumfries Elementary School, Prince William schools spokeswoman Irene Cromer said. Because the school’s kitchen is outfitted with a gas stove, lunch was prepared and provided to the students as normal.

Chairman At-Large Milt Johns of the Prince William County School Board took a position on continuing contracts for Virginia educators, and asked the other School Board members to do the same before they speak with Virginia legislators next week.
MANASSAS, Va. — Cases of flu are problematic in Prince William County schools.
An absentee report maintained by the county school division shows a 10 percent increase in absences at Lake Ridge, West Gate, and Yorkshire elementary schools. While it may seem like a lot, the absence rate is actually an improvement over recent weeks, spokeswoman Irene Cromer said.
WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Chemicals used in a fire suppression device inside a kitchen at Saunders Middle School left one employee sick and after school activities canceled Wednesday.
School administrators held a planned fire drill at 1:30 p.m. and staff and students had all safely made it outside the building. But during the drill, a fire suppression system was accidentally activated inside of the cafeteria kitchen and an employee had a reaction to the fire suppressant substance, said Prince William schools spokeswoman Irene Cromer.
Today is the day C.D. Hylton High School football standout E.J. Levenberry will play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on national TV.
The game will be seen at 1 p.m. today on NBC (channel 4 in the Washington area, channel 12 in the Richmond area) and it features 90 of the best high school athletes in the country.
