DALE CITY, Va. — It’s not easy being a third party candidate running for Congress  in Northern Virginia. Just ask Mark Gibson.

This year, in Virginia’s 11th Congressional District, the only way for an independent third-party candidate like Gibson to be listed on the ballot is to have 1,000 signatures on a ballot petition, which then must be submitted to the state’s office of elections. Gibson has about 500 signatures so far and he’s going for a total of 1,500 to ensure he has more  than enough.


DALE CITY, Va. — A Postal Service investigation indicates there was no white powdery substance found at Ashdale Plaza.

The shopping center on Dale Boulevard at Interstate 95, across from a K-Mart store, in Dale City, was evacuated late Monday morning. A woman who opened a piece of mail, an advertisement that was sent to multiple businesses in the shopping plaza, thought she spotted white powder inside the piece of mail and then called 911.

Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On May 18th at 1:31AM, officers stopped a vehicle in the area of the Prince William Pkwy and Hoadly Rd in Woodbridge (22192) for a traffic related offense. Officers determined that the driver, identified as the accused, was under the influence of alcohol. The accused initially resisted arrest but was subsequently detained. While officers were placing the accused in the backseat of a cruiser, she bit one of them in the arm causing a minor injury. Following the incident, the accused was arrested.


PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — A driver of a tractor trailer was possibly electrocuted this afternoon.

Fire and rescue crews were called to the area of River Heritage and Potomac Shores boulevards, outside Potomac Shores near Dumfries, after a truck ran into a low hanging power line just before 4 p.m., according to initial reports.
