Last week, two Democratic primary candidates for the Potomac district – Andrea Bailey and Dumfries Town Councilman Derrick Wood – met for a debate.
The debate was an opportunity for voters to meet the candidate and learn their stances prior to the upcoming primary, which is on June 9.
According to Prince William police, the focus of the operation was to find individuals that were providing illegal narcotics to teens and young adults.
The “Growing Pains” operation began in February.
Close to 100 people gathered at the Center for the Arts for the inaugural Manassas Business Appreciation Breakfast where they celebrated the City’s entrepreneurial spirit and thriving business community. The City of Manassas and the Prince William Chamber of Commerce hosted the event to recognize local businesses.
In his opening remarks, Mayor Harry J. Parrish II thanked the audience for choosing Manassas and “for all that you bring to the community.” Beyond creating jobs and boosting the local economy, he acknowledged the many business leaders who serve on boards and commissions and participate in the robust calendar of events.
On April 16, Prince William police arrested 29-year old Woodbridge man Robert Cain in relation to an investigation of ecstasy distribution.
From January through April, Cain met with an undercover detective in Woodbridge, Dumfries and Dale City to perform transactions with illegal narcotics, said Prince William police.
There were two home fires this week in Prince William.
On the evening on May 25, Prince William fire and rescue were called to a fire at a single-family home on Edmonston Drive in Manassas.
The Haymarket Police department has arrested two individuals involved with the possession of narcotics.
On May 24, a Haymarket police officer stopped a suspect – 24-year old Grace Dryden – for a traffic violation on James Madison Highway. According to Haymarket police, during a search of Dryden’s vehicle, marijuana and other controlled substances were found.
On the evening of May 23, Prince William police responded to a call for an assault in Manassas.
According to Prince William police, the victim – a 36-year old Manassas man – stated to police that we was working on his vehicle when the suspect – 42-year old Manuel Jesus Hernandez – struck him in the head from behind with a shovel.
